On November 16, 2023 the Berkeley Institute for Young Americans will join with organizations from Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, Japan, Nigeria and Australia, to recognize the first Intergenerational Fairness Day. The goal for the day is to bring greater awareness to the issue of intergenerational fairness – a global crisis that transcends borders – and to call on policymakers to act to protect the rights of younger and future generations.
Young people coming of age across the world are facing new and unprecedented risks that governments are failing to address. The Berkeley Institute for Young Americans is excited to partner with an international alliance of organizations to recognize Intergenerational Fairness Day. As part of this day, we are calling on governments worldwide to consider how they can be better stewards for future generations by accounting for the long-term impacts of their budgeting and policy decisions.
